The IPSA Research Committee on Structure and Organization of Government held its annual conference, hosted by the University of Gothenburg, on June 07-08. The theme was: “Public Management and Institutional Quality”. The conference addressed a key topic in comparative research of democratic governance and public management and administration. More than 40 participants contributed to the meeting, presenting over 25 academic papers. The core themes were management reforms and their effects on service delivery, audit and transparency in the public sector, partisan politics and administrative reforms, and New Public Management (NPM) and bureaucratic capacity, human resources, administrative traditions as well as public-private partnerships.
This year, the key note was given by one of the most highly acclaimed international public administration and management scholars – Christopher Hood, Gladstone Professor of Government Emeritus and Emeritus Fellow of All Souls College Oxford.
The local organising committee included Monika Bauhr, Rasmus Broms, Carl Dahlström, Marina Nistotskaya and Victor Lapuente.
